HOW TO VOTE
Devesh Bhan
My name is Devesh Bhan (he/him) and I’m currently in my first semester of the Master of Commerce (Marketing major) here at Curtin University. I am excited to be running for the position of Guild Councillor with Illuminate, to represent YOUR voice and serve our vibrant and diverse student community.
Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have been privileged to hold a variety of leadership roles. During my Bachelor of Business Administration, I served as a Student Representative, Class Delegate, and University Ambassador, where I helped organise student-led initiatives, mediated between students and staff, and led campus engagement activities. Professionally, I have had the opportunity to work with global hospitality brands such as the Marriott Group and Emaar Hospitality across the UAE and USA, which strengthened my leadership, teamwork, and stakeholder management skills. Following this, I worked as an Education Counsellor guiding students toward top hospitality universities — of which I am proudly an alumnus of. These roles have shaped me into a person who thrives in problem-solving, values-driven work environments, and loves supporting others.
Coming to Curtin, I bring with me deep passion, sincerity and a genuine desire to give back. I want to serve you all with heart, dedication, and integrity, ensuring every student — regardless of background — feels heard, included, and empowered.
My core values are loyalty, honesty, transparency, and respect. From a young age, I have believed that true happiness lies in helping people and solving problems. As your Guild Councillor, I will embed these values in every decision and advocacy effort I undertake. I believe in building bridges between students and the Guild, encouraging more voices at the table, and creating an environment where every student feels comfortable sharing their concerns and ideas.
I bring a strong set of skills including interpersonal communication, leadership, confidence, problem-solving, empathy, and strategic thinking. Combined with my multicultural and professional experience, I am confident I can represent the diverse perspectives of Curtin students, both domestic and international.
If elected, I aim to:
• Actively listen to your concerns and be an approachable point of contact at all times,
• Advocate for better student support services, especially in areas such as mental health, academic resources, employability, and international student inclusion,
• Promote transparency and accountability within Guild decision-making,
• Drive initiatives that foster community spirit, networking, and peer support across all schools at Curtin.
My intention is simple — to be your voice, your guide, and your support system — helping take the Curtin University community forward, together.
With the elections right around the corner, I humbly ask for your support.
Let’s illuminate Curtin with unity, passion, and purpose. Cheers!
