HOW TO VOTE
Toby Collier
Hey all! My name is Toby, and my pronouns are they/she. I’m currently in my second year of a Bachelor of Social Work - and I’m super keen to be running for the role of Guild Councillor for 2026!
For the last two years, I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in the guild as part of the Queer Collective. Through this, I’ve gained a whole lot of experience in effectively collaborating and uplifting the voices of fellow students. I’m super lucky to have been given this opportunity to develop my understanding of how the guild functions, as well as to work alongside other brilliantly motivated students.
As a social work student, my values are rooted in equity, transparency, integrity, and accountability for Curtin’s governing body. Above all, I believe Curtin students’ voices must be genuinely listened to and uplifted in order to genuinely make a difference that reverberates across the community - something I aim to work towards as a Guild Councillor.
If I am elected, my goal is to focus on and advocate for several key issues that have been constantly echoed throughout the student body - most remarkably, safety and affordability of campus accomodation, incidents of systemic deadnaming, and accessibility of essential student services (namely parking, food, and academic supports) - both throughout 2026 and beyond.
As a guild councillor, I will be dedicated to working for your best interests and committed to ensuring that the decisions being made by the staffing body accurately reflect the priorities and needs of those who are being hit the hardest in the current cost of living crisis - students. I want to hear from other students about how you believe your time at Curtin can be improved for the better - I truly believe that together we can build better outcomes for all Curtin University students!
