HOW TO VOTE

Kaya, kia ora, salam and hello!
My name is Zobia (she/her), a second year Biomedical Sciences student running for the position of Health Science Representative with Illuminate.
Being the Health Science Representative means I'm the direct link between you, the Guild and the Health Faculty. Along with other representatives, I'm here to keep Curtin on their toes - holding them accountable for their actions as well as ensuring your issues, ideas and suggestions are being heard.
This year, I’ve had pleasure of being the Vice-President of the Biomedical Sciences Club since the beginning of the year; I’ve also completed dozens of hours of volunteering in a range of positions and environments. These experiences have helped hone my leadership, diplomacy, communication and organisational skills. I aim to bring these skills to the Guild to help represent my fellow Health students in front of the University across panels and boards, but also at events and day-to-day activities, providing support and encouragement wherever I can.
I’m not just an active member of the community already – I’m proactive.
My main focuses for 2026 are experience centred; I will fight to ensure lectures and tutors gain educational training to uphold the new rights of students – the right to world-class education. I will also advocate for the implementation of new channels to help societies collaborate through, to promote dialogue between isolated courses.
Additionally, I will continue to pressure the university to enact paid placements for ALL health degrees, along with making it more accessible and holding greater value for the time and effort we put in.
But I won’t stop there. I also want to hear and use your stories to drive the University into giving you the best possible education and experience it can, in the way that you need it the most.
